Work hardenable austenitic stainless steel consists of up to 0.08 wt.% C, up to 0.25 wt.% N, 12-15 wt.% Cr, 6.5-8.5 wt.% Mn, 2-3.5 Ni, sum of Mn and Ni being at least 9 wt.%, balance Fe plus incidental elements and impurities. This stainless steel is used for car seat belt anchors, hose clamps, springs etc., and it has uniform elongating properties in cold condition while maintaining Ni and Cr at low levels of amount. |
