摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To set a side guide, an edger, etc., without loss of time by computing material lengths after an N-th pass rolling and in the midst of an N+1st pass rolling from a speed of a rolled stock, a circumferential speed of a rolling roll and a rolling time and recognizing the position of the tail end of the rolled stock. CONSTITUTION:A detecting means 30 for the peripheral speed of a rolling roll, a detecting means 40 for rolled stock speed and a measuring means for rolling time are provided on a reverse rolling mill (horizontal rolling mill) 1 with a rolling load meter 8. The length of material after rolling at the N-th pass is computed by a material speed at the N-th pass detected by a speed detecting means 40 for rolled stock, a rolling roll speed at the N-th pass detected by a detecting means 30 of the peripheral speed of the rolling roll and a rolling time at the N-th pass based on the output of a rolling load meter 8. Then, when the material is rolled at the N+1st pass, the length of a rolled stock is computed in the same way as mentioned before and the tail end 2A of the rolled stock 2 in the midst of rolling is recognized by the difference between them. Irrespective of the rolling circumstance, accordingly, the tail end 2A of the rolled stock 2 in the midst of an arbitrary rolling pass can be recognized without misrecognition.</p>
