<p>PURPOSE:To improve the visibility for oppositely running cars and attain the energy saving by dimming the right and left headlights when a car is stopped. CONSTITUTION:When a car speed sensor 75 detects that the car speed is the preset speed or below and an inhibitor switch 73 outputs a signal indicating that the transmission is at the neutral position, thereby the stop state is detected, signals of the car speed sensor 75 and the inhibitor switch 73 are inputted to a switching circuit 5, the connection of the right headlight 1 end the left headlight 2 is switched to the serial connection. The voltage applied to both headlights 1 and 2 is reduced to a half of that when they are connected in parallel, and they are dimmed respectively. The light quantity of both headlights 1 and 2 is reduced in the stop state, thereby the oppositely running cars are not dazzled, and the visibility for the other cars is good because the headlights are not completely turned off. The temperature change of filaments is small as compared with that when they are completely turned off, and the life of electric lamps is extended.</p> |
