<p>1296140 Casting machines INTERNATIONAL PRESS DEVELOPMENT ESTABLISHMENT 10 April 1970 [16 July 1969] 17224/70 Heading B3F [Also in Division B5] A press for a die casting machine having a mobile plate 3 and two stationary plates 1, 2, comprises a plurality of toggles 8, 9 movable with the mobile plate 3, each toggle including a shorter arm 10 pivotally connected to the mobile plate and a longer arm 11 which has a free end hinged to a guide member 16 for guidance of the free end to and from a seat 30 on the plate 1, the guide member 11 being pivotally connected to a support on the mobile plate. As shown, the guide members 16 are pivoted to the cylinder of a ram 18 whose piston rod 22 is connected by short rods 26, 27 to extensions 28 of the arms 10. Opening and closing of die members 2<SP>1</SP>, 3<SP>1</SP> is effeeted by hydraulic rams 6, 7 locking pressure being applied through the toggles by the ram 18. When the toggles are in their retracted position they can pass upwardly through a hole 29 in the plate 1.</p> |
