PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head which does not generate reproducing waveform distortions by specifying the magnetostriction constant of a lower magnetic film to the value smaller than 5X10<-7> and the absolute value of the magnetostriction constant of an upper magnetic film to the value smaller than 2X10<-7>. CONSTITUTION:An Al2O3 film 12 is formed to one face of a ceramics plate 11 consisting of an Al2O3-TiC system to constitute a substrate 1. An Ni-Fe alloy film is formed over the entire surface of the Al2O3 film 12 and the lower magnetic film 2 having a prescribed shape is formed by ion-milling of this film. The Al2O3 film is sputtered on the magnetic film 2 and is ion-milled to form a 1st part 51 of an insulating member 5. A polyimide resin film is then formed thereon except the points to constitute gaps G. A conductor film 4 is formed of Cu and a polyimide resin is coated on this film 4 to form the 2nd part 52 of the insulating member 5. The upper magnetic film 3 consisting of an Ni-Fe alloy is formed on the 1st, 2nd parts 51, 52 corresponding to the lower magnetic film 2 and the exposed part of the lower magnetic film 2 and the Al2O3 having excellent thermal conductivity is sputtered thereon to form a protective member 6. The thin-film magnetic head which has no read-out waveform distortions is thus obtd. |
