<p>PURPOSE:To lessen emission start lag time with a small sized head, by a method wherein when discharge and emission are performed by impressing voltage to a printing anode and a printing cathode, auxiliary discharge is performed with a projection electrode and discharge start lag is controlled. CONSTITUTION:In a gas discharge type printing head wherein a printing cathode 12 and a printing anode formed by two substrate 11, 15 are opposed to each other via a discharging gas medium and light is emitted by impressing voltage, a projection electrode 18 is formed to the printing cathode 12 (or the anode 16) via an emission control film 13 to be positioned on the opposed printing anode 16 side. Then, when discharge and emission are performed by impressing voltage between both electrodes 12, 16, auxiliary discharge is performed with the projection electrode 18, and discharge start lag is controlled. Emission start lag time in an emission part can be thus decreased without arranging an auxiliary discharge electrode separately, and therefore, the head can be miniaturized.</p> |
