Process for isotope separation of natural uranium and a device for making use of this process. A gas mixture comprising a uranium compound is subjected to an adiabatic decompression through a slit with a width of between 0.5 mm and 1 mm, made in a thin wall, and the as yet uncondensed compound is irradiated with a beam of coherent light.
