Optoacoustic device intended for the blind, essentially consisting of a low-frequency oscillator of H.S.C. M.O.S. technology 12, with logical operators, whose signal is input into a programmable counter 11, and in which the division ratio of the said counter is controlled by an array 7 whose function is to sum the signals leaving the photoresistive cells 1, 2 and 3 placed behind the dichroic filters 4, 5 and 6. In addition to the chrominance signal obtained at B, the array 7 generates a luminence signal at A, whose function is to act on the instantaneous gain of an amplifier 8, whilst the average gain of the latter is adjusted by a potientiometer 10, the low-frequency signals are transmitted to a piezoelectric sound transducer 9. This device makes it possible to aid the blind, amblyopics, and people suffering from daltonism to overcome their handicap. <IMAGE>
