<p>PURPOSE:To prevent a soluble organic composition caught by a trap with a catalyst from being detached and improve an exhaust purification effect, by guiding exhaust to the side of the trap with the catalyst only at the time of the soluble organic composition catch as flow passages are changed over by means of an opening/closing valve. CONSTITUTION:An opening/closing valve 3 is interveniently provided at the exhaust passage 2 of an internal combustion engine 1, and at the same time, a trap 5 with a catalyst is interveniently provided at the bypass passage 4 for the opening/closing valve 3. Meantime, respective detecting means 6-8 which detect respectively the temperature, the load and the rotational speed of the internal combustion engine 1, is provided. And on the basis of respective signals of respective detecting means 6-8, an opening/ closing valve control means 9 which closes the opening/closing valve 3 at least at the time of a predetermined engine brake state, is provided. As a result, as the opening/ closing valve 3 is closed, the majority of exhaust is introduced to the trap 5 with the catalyst, and the trap 5 with the catalyst is activated by taking advantage of the heat of exhaust, and at the same time, the soluble organic composition (SOF) caught by the trap 5 with the catalyst is made to burn.</p> |
