The invention relates to rigging organised so that the resultant of the forces which the wind exerts on the sail which the rigging includes is directed no longer horizontally but obliquely and upwards so that it has the effect no longer only of propelling the boat, but also of making it lighter and stabilising it. This result is obtained by mounting a sail 1 in the form of an isosceles triangle onto an antenna 2 perpendicular to the end M of an inclined spar 4 capable of rotating in a coaxial sleeve 5 fixed to the boat at a point 0 starting from which this sleeve may possibly assume all possible orientations. The apex of the triangular sail is hoisted home to the end N of a swinging boom 3 articulated at M on the spar 4, to which it is returned by means of a sheet 7. Applicable to all sailing boats regardless of their use and tonnage, the invention simplifies their construction, improves their performance, and makes it easier to pilot (navigate) them. <IMAGE>
