PURPOSE:To efficiently switch the phase of a motor irrespective of the speed of the motor by sequentially switching and flowing drive current through an armature coil on the basis of the relationship of the magnitudes of a plurality of position signals from position detecting means which detect the positions of movable elements. CONSTITUTION:The position of a movable element 1 which includes a multipolar permanent magnet is detected by position detecting means 2a-2c such as Hall elements. The outputs of the means 2a-2c are inputted through buffer amplifiers 3a-3c to circuits 4a-4c for advancing the position signal in a timing manner. Energizing phase switching circuit 5 sequentially switches and flows the current through a plurality of armature coils 6a-6c in response to the position signals from the circuits 4a-4c. The frequency that the phase leading amount becomes maximum in the circuits 4a-4c substantially coincides with the frequency of the position signal at the maximum speed time of a movable element 1.
