PURPOSE:To restrict deterioration of capacity of the battery in the caption while high effective constant current charging is performed by adding oxygen reduction catalyst into negative active material so as not to reduce moisture in electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:In a sealed lead storage battery, lead dioxide, sponge lead and dilute sulfuric acid used for positive active material, negative active material and electrolyte respectively. Oxygen reduction catalyst is added into negative active material, preferably 0.02-0.5wt.% of palladium oxide is added into negative active material weight. Oxygen generated on a positive plate while charged is thus efficiently absorbed on a negative plate. Therefore, moisture in the electrolyte is not so reduced, deterioration of capacity is restricted while high effective constant current charging is performed and amount of voltage drop is increased after a charged voltage reaches its peak. |
