Arrangement for producing a homogeneous, frequency-independent alternating magnetic field

In order to produce a homogeneous, frequency-independent alternating magnetic field, two ring coils are used which lie on the same axis and whose separation is equal to the radius of the ring. The ring coils are electrically connected in series and are connected via leads to an A.C. voltage generator and a matched (reflection-free) terminating resistor. The leads have at all points the same wave impedance as the two ring coils. In order to make it possible to use generators and terminating resistors without conversion of the wave impedance, both ring coils, including their leads, are made from a coaxial cable.
