Combustion engine with at least one series of cylinders with closely adjacent combustion chambers (1, 2) wherein each combustion chamber contains three valves (3, 4), characterized in that valves (3, 4) are arranged freely suspended, their axes intersect substantially in the centre of the combustion chamber and seen in a plan, form a "Y" located normally to the longitudinal axis of the combustion engine, that the position of the valves relative to one another in the combustion chambers (1, 2) of neighbouring cylinders (1', 2') are turned, in each case, through 180 degrees and that the shaft ends (3', 4') of the individual valves (3, 4) in each case to the left and right of the longitudinal axis of the combustion engine form a valve row, in the plane of which lies, in each case, a cam shaft (8) which actuates the valve (4) located at an oblique angle to the camshaft axis via conical cams (9) acting on cup tappets (4"). |
