The ventilating apparatus (1) for windows and/or French windows (2) serves for the recuperative ventilating and venting of lounges, in particular for housing construction. The invention relates to the provision of a sound-insulating and heat-insulating ventilating apparatus on the window or French-window element, the frame or sash frame comprising plastic hollow-chamber profiles, and the supply duct and the discharge duct for the fresh air (13), which is to be channelled into the room, and for the warm waste air (12), which is to be channelled out of the room, respectively, in the hollow-chamber profiles extending over the periphery of the frame or sash frame in the form of a convection recuperator in accordance with the countercurrent principle, such that the inflowing, gradually warming, rising fresh air (13) and the outflowing, gradually cooling waste air (12), guided downwards in countercurrent with respect to the fresh air, flow through the frame or sash frame over the entire height thereof. In this arrangement, in addition to the sound-insulating effect, account is also taken, in a particularly simple and expedient manner, of the energy-saving requirements given in accordance with the current state of the art by tightly closing windows during the cold-weather period, without preventing the discharge of used, humid interior room air, but, by supplying warmed-up fresh air, ensuring that good room air conditions are maintained.
