PURPOSE: To obtain a purfusion apparatus binding liver cells by providing the apparatus with a semipermeable membrane to divide a purfusion chamber from a liver cell chamber and using an oligosaccharide-lectin recognition bond to bond the liver cells onto a biopolymer holding membrane at the liver cell chamber. CONSTITUTION: A cap 16 has a purfusion liquid entrance 20, a cap 18 has a purfusion liquid exit 22, and both connect to inner parts of hollow fibers 14. An entrance 24 and an exit 26 are situated at an inner part than a planting element 15, and can reach an outer region of the hollow fibers in a vessel 12. The fiber 14 acts as a septum between the purfusion chamber in the fiber and the liver cell chamber at a region between the outer surface of the fiber 14 and the inner portion of a shell 12. At a surface of a liver cell 28, a liver cell 28 adhered to the outer surface of the hollow fibers 14 is situated through an oligosaccharide-lectin recognition bond containing a saccharide 30 present in nature and a lectin 32 conducted a covalent bond with the hollow fiber 14. A preferable lectin 32 is a lentil agglutinin or a kidney bean agglutinin. |
