<p>A system for opening books and marking pages, enabling a text to be positioned so as to facilitate reading, comprises an extensible element (1) whose ends (2, 3) are connected to the prolongation (6, 7) of the clips (4, 5) designed to be held elastically against the longitudinal edges of the pages. When the book (9) is placed in a given position, the system automatically opens it at the place where the reader had stopped. The right-hand and left-hand pages are held permanently by the elastically interconnected clips, which are thus suited to different formats and can produce cursors capable of indicating a line. The book recloses normally, the system remains adapted and requires no other manipulation. In one variant, one of the clips can lock its opening, while the other continues to function as a page marker. For certain applications, the system co-operates with an element equipped with means for forming an adjustably inclinable support.</p> |
