A process is provided for testing the dermal toxicity of substances and mixtures of substances and for selecting skin-compatible active materials, especially for products of the agrochemical industry, pharmacy, dyestuffs, disinfection agents, hygienic agents and household chemicals, wherein, as test bodies, there are used vaginal skin sections resected from at least two healthy female patients of sexually mature age which are brought into contact with the substance to be tested, whereafter the test bodies are examined by raster electron microscopy or by transmission electron microscopy.
