A multiple-axle steering system for a vehicle comprises a hydromechanical steering gear with a working cylinder (48) which reinforces the steering force exerted on a first axle (40) and a hydrostatic steering connection with a blocking device (2) for a second axle (41) and capable of being actuated via a steering linkage (43) by a second working cylinder (42, 27). The blocking device comprises a cylinder (1) arranged in the steering linkage of the second axle (41) and in which a holding member (7) connected to the steering linkage, and therefore adjustable, can be mechanically blocked by an extensible and retractable blocking part (8). A centering device (3) with two centering pistons (19, 20) slidingly arranged on a longitudinally sliding part (4) of the steering linkage (41) is arranged in the steering linkage (43) of the second axle (41). The longitudinally sliding part (4) comprises a stop (23, 24) for each centering piston. A stationary part (24, 25, 35) of the centering device comprises for each centering piston (19, 20) a second stop which defines the central position of the steering linkage (41). The chambers (17, 18) of the two centering pistons (19, 20) can be placed under pressure by a pressure source (44) which can be actuated by a switch member (43) at least in the region of a straight-ahead driving position. |
