An apparatus for recording and/or reproducing signals comprises a housing (1) having a front opening (5) through which a drawer (6) carrying a turntable (7) is movable and which has a part above the drawer which can be closed by a front cover (11) which is pivotable between an open position and a closed position. The front cover (11) comprises at least on side portion (11b, 11c) which extends in a rearward direction along a side wall (4) of the housing (1) and which rests on a guide edge of the drawer (6). During the movement of the drawer the front cover is controlled by control means arranged on the drawer, which means comprise an actuating projection (14) and a reset projection (16) situated near said side wall (4), the actuating projection (14) adjoining a positioning edge (15). During the movement of the drawer (6) said projections cooperate with a control element (12) connected to the side portion (11b, 11c) of the front cover, causing the front cover to be tilted between an open position and a closed position. The front cover is retained in the open position by the cooperation of the control element (12) with the positioning edge (15).
