PURPOSE:To solve the problem of exhaust, by providing such a mechanism that helium used as a carrier gas is utilized and the introduction of helium into a mass spectrometer apparatus is enabled when it is necessary to adjust the internal pressure in said apparatus to atmospheric pressure. CONSTITUTION:A branch line 18 is provided on the way of an arranged pipe 17 for supplying a carrier gas to gas chromatograph from a gas source and connected to a mass spectrometer apparatus while a valve 15 is interposed on the way of the branch line 18. When it is necessary to adjust the internal pressure of the apparatus of atmospheric pressure, a butterfly valve 16 is closed while the operation of an exhaust system is stopped and a valve 15 is opened. By this operation, helium is introduced into a mass spectrometer apparatus from a helium gas bomb 13 through the branch line 18. In this case, it is necessary to also close a gas flowline between the chromatograph 13 and an ionizing chamber 17 and, in this apparatus, a method wherein a jet type molecule separator 6 itself is used to close the gas flowline is used. |
