"A roller chain has a roller (5) rotatably mounted on a bush (3) which interconnects a pair of oppositely disposed inner link plates (2). A pair of thrust rings (7) for sustaining the transverse load are each disposed between a respective end of the roller and a respective inner link plate. Each thrust ring presents a sealing portion (13) preventing the outflow of lubricant from, and the ingress of dust to, an internal space of the roller. In one embodiment, the sealing portion is an annular projection on the thrust bearing received in a bearing recess formed in the end of the roller. In another embodiment, the sealing portion is an inner peripheral portion of the thrust ring received on the bush.
