Stock, e.g. a strip coil 1 is conveyed to a reel mandrel 2 by a horizontally and vertically reciprocable conveyer beam 9, a horizontally receiprocable conveyer beam 5, a support 7 which can be raised and lowered, and a table 3 which is vertically and horizontally reciprocable. The coil 1 having been transferred by the beam 9 between stationary supports 10 is deposited on the beam 5 which has a recess 8 to receive the beam 9. The beam 5 then transfers the coil, via the support 7, to the table 3 for transfer to the mandrel 2. One of the supports 10 is adjustable for correcting misplacement of the coil on the beam 9.
