<p>A lid sealing apparatus is generally indicated at 10. This has a frame 11 which supports a lid storage system 12, a lid delivery trolley 13, a lid retaining head 14, a platten 15, a platten storage mechanism 16, a box delivery conveyor 17, box retaining stops 18,19 and a box lifting mechanism 20. Boxes and lids are first applied to a heat surface of the platten 15 and then the heat sealing surfaces on the lid and box are subsequently pushed into engagement. The platten storage mechanism 16 holds a spare platten which may be pre-heated prior to a tool change over so that plattens can be changed quickly.</p> |
