<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a water-base ink improved in water resistance and light resistance and excelling in long-term stability, by dispersing a polymer obtained by solution-polymerizing a specified ethylenically unsaturated monomer in the presence of a water-soluble dye in a specified copolymer latex. CONSTITUTION:A polymer obtained by solution-polymerizing an ethylenically unsaturated monomer having an acidic or basic group [e.g., (meth)acrylic acid or vinylpyridine] in the presence of a water-soluble dye and a water-soluble organic solvent (e.g., diethylene glycol) is dispersed in a copolymer latex obtained by emulsion-polymerizing an ethylenically unsaturated monomer and having a mean particle diameter <=3mu (preferably, one obtained by emulsion- polymerizing a cyano group-containing ethylenically unsaturated monomer with other copolymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomers) to allow the copolymer to adsorb the polymer. The obtained water-base ink is improved in water resistance and pressure resistance in which conventional inks containing a water- soluble dye are lacking, is excellent in long-term stability, is variously colored, has a clear hue, is useful as an ink for writing utensils or a printing ink, and is useful in application to recording papers, especially, heat-sensitive or pressure- sensitive paper.</p> |
