<p>PURPOSE:To improve flutter, operation and safety characteristics by constituting boss metal fittings through provision of approximately cylindrical metal spring member between an inner member connected to a shaft and an outer member around which a continuous fiber is wound. CONSTITUTION:An FRP made steering wheel core member is manufactured by sequentially winding and laminating a continuous fiber impregnated with synthetic resin around a ring forming jig and boss metal fittings 10 located at the axial core. In this case, the boss metal fittings 10 is composed of an inner member 11 serration-fitted to the upper end of a column shaft, an outer member 12 composed of cylindrical main body 19 around which the continuous fiber is wound and a flange 20, and a spring member 13 inserted between both members 11, 12. The spring member 13 is formed with a metal member in the form of U-shaped cylinder in cross section, and provided with outward and inward flanges 27, 28 at the opposing ends thereof, which flanges are welded to the outer and inner members 12, 11, respectively.</p> |
