<p>A road and rail wheel for a tractor has two rims inclined towards their plane of junction to form a V-shaped channel, a tyre held in the channel, and a radial flange extending from one of the rims to hold the wheel on a rail. The tyre is pref. of rubber or polyurethane. A tractor, a snow plough, and a sand distributor are also claimed. A road and rail wheel for a tractor has inner and outer sections fixed together by bolts. Each section has an inwardly inclined rim, together forming a V-shaped channel for a solid tyre. The outer rim has a radial flange locating it on a rail. The flange may be omitted, in which case the tractor has rollers locating it on rails. The tractor may have a moving ballast carriage allowing it to manoeuvre railway wagons. It may also have a sand box from which sand is fed to the wheels to allow them to grip slippery rails.</p> |
