PURPOSE:To enable rapid processing of a silver halide photographic sensitive material and to improve preservability of the material against the lapse of time by adding a water-soluble Ag salt to a coating liquid of a silver halide photographic emulsion in a stage of prepn. or after the prepn. of the coating liquid. CONSTITUTION:Photosensitive silver halide particles having >=90mol.% AgCl content which have been chemically sensitized with a gold sensitizer are incorporated into at least one layer of silver halide emulsion layers. Further, a water-soluble Ag salt is added to the coating liquid for forming the emulsion layer in the stage of or after the prepn. of the coating liquid. Said silver halide particles may be used alone or together with other silver halide particles having different compsn. Thus, a silver halide photographic emulsion improved in the characteristics of causing change of sensitivity and gradation against the lapse of time, which have been inevitable in conventional photographic sensitive material untreated by the process of this invention, is obtd., while maintaining high sensitivity and superior gradation of the material. |
