PURPOSE:To improve steering stability of a two-rear shaft type automobile by steering the rear-rear wheel of its rear-rear shaft in response to the steering of the front wheel of the front shaft of the two-rear shaft type automobile and simultaneously steering the rear-front wheel of its rear front shaft in the direction same as direction of the rear-rear wheel of the rear-rear shaft by means of the reaction of steering the rear-rear wheel of its rear-rear shaft. CONSTITUTION:A rear power steering 10 includes a V-type rod 11 for positioning a rear-front shaft 37 on a chassis 31 and a power cylinder 12 for steering rear-rear wheels 45 and 46 of a steer type rear-rear shaft 42 via a tie-rod arm. The power cylinder 12 is connected to the rear-front shaft 37 by means of a rocking lever 13 so that the reaction of the power cylinder 12 may be received by the front-rear wheel shaft 37. The power cylinder 12 is so arranged as to be controlled by a control unit on the basis of a car speed, steering angle and rear wheel steering angle. During a slow speed turn, the rear-rear shaft is steered in the reverse shape to that of the front wheel and during a high speed turn, the same rear-rear shaft is steered in the same phase as that of a front wheel. Therefore, during a low speed run, the property of small and sharp turn of an automobile is improved and during a high speed run, under/steer tendency is intensified in the same automobile so that the steering stability of the automobile can be enhanced. |
