PURPOSE: To prevent decomposition at a relatively high battery voltage by containing trilithium phosphide in solid electrolyte pinched between a lithium electrode and a counter electrode. CONSTITUTION: This secondary lithium battery kept at the solid state at the room temperature contains a lithium electrode 2, a counter electrode 3, and a solid-state electrolyte 1 of trilithium phosphide (Li3 P) having high lithium ion conductivity and electrochemical stability at a high battery voltage. The electrolyte 1 can be simply manufactured via the exothermic reaction between lithium and phosphorus powder or between lithium and monolithium phosphide powder. A lithium battery containing the peculiar solid-state electrolyte 1 having high ion conductivity at the room temperature and kept electrochemically stable not to be decomposed at a relatively high battery voltage can be obtained. |
