PURPOSE:To impart ruggedness to the surface of spherical particles and to enhance triboelectrostatic chargeability and the adhesiveness thereof to a photosensitive body by dispersing oil drops consisting of the component of a toner into a soln. to form the spherical particle, then stirring the soln. at a high speed so that the spherical particles collide against each other. CONSTITUTION:A styrene/butyl methacrylate copolymer as a binder resin, a carbon black and a nigrosine dye are dissolved and mixed in a solvent mixture composed of diethyl ether and chloroform. This soln. is then dropped into water 2 which contains 0.5% gelatin and is kept stirred at a high speed by a homogenizer 4 rotating at a high speed of 9,500rpm, by which the soln. is dispersed into the oil drops 3... of about 10mum grain size. The soln. in the water tank 1 is thereafter heated by a heater 6 to increase the temp. to 50 deg.C and the solvent is dissipated under the stirring at 1,000rpm by a stirrer 5 to obtain the spherical particles. The spherical particle are then stirred again at a high speed of 9,500rpm by the homogenizer 4, by which the spherical particles are treated to have the rugged surfaces. |
