<p>PURPOSE:To prevent a sudden start of a vehicle by releasing shift lock at parking and neutral positions by stepping a brake pedal to enable select operation to a running position. CONSTITUTION:When a key 14 is not inserted, a selector lever 3 is placed at a position P, and a shift lock plate 8 is engaged with a pin 9 to lock movement of a shift rod 4. At this time, a key lock control plate 17 enables the key 14 to be mounted and demounted at a position for engaging with a pin 18. Secondly, when the key 14 is turned to ON position, a solenoid 12 retains the lock plate 8 at a lock position, and a key lock member 22 causes the plate 17 to further move to a non-lock position. Hereupon, when a brake pedal 15 is stepped, the solenoid 12 allows the plate 8 to move to the non-lock position, so that the shift rod 4 can be moved to a desired range position. Thus, sudden start and robbery can be prevented.</p> |
