PURPOSE:To make the displaying color of a liquid crystal screen unchangeable even if the ambient temperature changes by controlling the transmission and nontransmission of the monochromatic light of a yellow light source projected on the front surface through a diffusion plate by means of a liquid crystal cell so as to make display in yellow color. CONSTITUTION:Polarizing plates 1 and 3 are closely provided in front of and rear of a liquid crystal cell 2 and a diffusion plate 4 and reflecting plate 5 are arranged in the rear of the polarizing plate 2. Then, light sources 6a and 6b are respectively provided above and below the reflecting plate 5. The light emitting wavelength characteristics of the yellow LEDs used for the light sources 6a and 6b are monochromatic light having a light emitting luminance peak lambda0=570nm and wavelength width DELTAlambda=30nm and by controlling the transmission and nontransmission of the yellow monochromatic light projected from the light sources 6a and 6b by means of the liquid crystal cell 2, yellow liquid crystal displays are performed. Therefore, even when a phase difference parame ter DELTAnd changes due to the ambient temperature, the displaying color of the liquid crystal screen does not change and easily seeable yellow-mode liquid crystal displays are always obtained. |
