The crane grapple comprises two hydraulically operated, claw-like jaws (2,3) hinged to a supporting frame (1) and pivoting between open and closed positions. The jaws are actuated by two double-acting hydraulic cylinders (12, 12') and each have a pair of spaced apart, but mutually connected flat side members (4, 5, 6, 7) in parallel planes. One side member of one pair can pass closely to, and on the inside of a cooperating side member of the other pair. A rotator (31) is connectible with the frame for suspending the grapple from the crane tip. Each hydraulic cylinder is positioned in the same plane as two cooperating and juxtaposedly, movable side members (4,6; 5,7) on both jaws. The cylinder body is hinged to one side member (4,5) while its piston rod is hinged to the other (6,7). |
