PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain a high quality image, in a dot matrix printer, by arranging M rows of recording element groups of which N numbers of K/N come to simple fractions at K dot intervals in an auxiliary scanning direction so as to be shifted only over a distance (l) being the integer-fold of N. CONSTITUTION:A recording head 15 has nozzle heads 15Y-15BK of yellow Y, magenta M, cyan C and black BK while each head has N=3 numbers of nozzles arranged at K=4 dot intervals such that N numbers of K/N come to simple fractions in an auxiliary scanning direction and arranged at L=2 dot intervals in a main scanning direction in a stepwise form set back every at l=3 dot intervals. In this case, the recording head 15 is reciprocally moved at one dot interval to respectively carry out recording every one main scanning line SLn and recording paper 3 is subsequently sent over a distance corresponding to three dots to repeat similar operation. Therefore, because a color ink is superposed after the previously emitted color ink is sufficiently dried, the lowering in image quality can be avoided and, because the superposing order of the color ink is same in a reciprocal direction, the difference in color tone is not developed and a high quality color image can be obtained. |
