PURPOSE:To make it possible to replace a cutting tool within a quite short period, by fixing various bits to an endless chain, and providing a bit fixing apparatus at one point of the chain, in an apparatus for replacing automatically a bit for a turning apparatus for cutting pipes or the like. CONSTITUTION:The endless chain 11 is put over sprocket wheels 7, 9. Bit mounts 12 are joined at prescribed interval positions of the endless chain 11, and the bits 2 are secured to the bit mounts 12. When the bit mount 12 is indexed to one point of the endless chain 11, a dismounting cylinder is actuated to cause a wedge 16 to move and the bit mount 12 is clamped. The endless chain 11 is driven by a driving motor 19 through a shaft 10. |
