PURPOSE:To enable simplified rolling process, by forming a press-bonded layer of aluminum, etc., on at least one surface of a stainless steel foil in the cooling process in formation of a stainless steel foil by, quenching and solidifying to give a metal carrier material. CONSTITUTION:A ferrite-type stainless steel is melted in a melting part 1, the melted steel is dropped through a nozzle 1 to a roll 2 which is cooled and rotating at high speed to quench and solidify the steel, thus, a stainless steel foil 5 is prepd. An aluminum or aluminum alloy foil 4 is press-bonded to the obtained foil 5 by rolls 3 to give a cladded stainless steel foil having aluminum or aluminum alloy clad layers with 30-80mum thickness on both sides. Then, the resulting foil is subjected to heat treatment 6 at about 1200 deg.C in vacuum to give a metal carrier material 7 bearing an aluminum oxide layer on the surface. |
