A telescopic hydraulic piston (5) fitted to an adjustable chair has upper and lower end walls (27,28) and an outer wall (26) in which is housed the sealed piston (15). The piston carries a seal (22). TWo liquid filled chambers (16,17) are formed and interconnected by a pipe (18) with an adjustable valve (19). - Within the lower chamber a resilient compression spring (21) reacts on the piston as pressure is applied to the force transmitting member (8), and an elastic compressible means (20) compensates for the loss of liquid displaced to the upper chamber. |
