PURPOSE:To improve the smoothness and the quality of the surface of a color filter by forming a color filter pattern on the surface of a transparent substrate and forming a polishing protective layer on this pattern and polishing the polishing protective layer and the color filter pattern. CONSTITUTION:A color filter pattern 3 is formed on the surface of a transparent substrate 1 by the printing method, and a polishing protective layer 4 is formed on this color filter pattern 3, and the polishing protective layer 4 and the color filter pattern 3 are polished to flatten the surface. Consequently, the color filter pattern 3 is flattened without damaging the color filter pattern 3 at the time of polishing. Thus, the color filter of high display quality is obtained which has not the color filter pattern dropped out and is superior in surface smoothness. |
