The known devices for transferring compost stacks are limited in terms of their working height or working width. They are not suitable for all types of compost and can be operated only with large drive powers. The novel device functions with a low working power, can function in every working width and working height and is suitable for all compost types. The device is capable, as a mounted device, of receiving the compost material with a conveyor ascending against the forward feed direction and of placing the compost on a new stack by means of an ascending conveyor arranged transversely to the forward feed direction. The device can be mounted on all known carrier vehicles and is suitable for transferring all compost materials in any desired working width and working height. <IMAGE>
