Continuously operating press for pressing webs of chipboard, webs of fibreboard, webs of laminated board and webs of similar compressed material having a press crown with an upper heated pressing plate; a press lower part with a lower heated pressing plate; an endlessly circulating steel belt in the press crown; an endlessly circulating steel belt in the press lower part; and rolling rod circulating devices. The rolling rod circulating devices have rolling rod circulating chains and, on the inlet side, a rolling rod introduction device. The steel belts, which form an inlet mouth and, on the outlet side, are guided over a rotating drum, run in the pressing region on the rolling rods, which are supported at the other side by the pressing plates. The steel belts are guided on the inlet side via a non-rotating, at least partly curved guide sheet, the said guide sheets having heating ducts and/or cooling ducts and defining the inlet mouth. The rolling rod introduction devices are arranged in the region of the guide sheets. The steel belts also run in the region of the guide sheets on the rolling rods which are supported on the other side by the guide sheets. <IMAGE>
