A device is proposed for indicating the switching condition of an overload circuit breaker (14) in an electrical apparatus, which circuit breaker cuts off the current supply when a threshold temperature or a threshold current is exceeded and is provided with two connection contacts (25), the two connection contacts (25) being connected by an electrical light element (22) via the series connection of a resistor (23). If a contact breaker section is opened within the overload circuit breaker, for example as a result of overheating, the electrical apparatus is switched off. The light element (22) is then illuminated, which immediately demonstrates that the cause of the switching-off lies in overheating. Such an indictor device consists of inexpensive components and can be fitted in a simple manner. <IMAGE>
