The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for the adsorption or chemisorption of gaseous substances from an untreated gas stream. The untreated gas mixed with the adsorbents is fed to a cloth filter, in the centre of which is situated a collection shaft having dust guide baffles arranged laterally beneath. The untreated gas is passed from the bottom into the collection shaft via a nozzle. Gas and dust separated off recirculate around the collection shaft. In this case an internal dust-gas recirculation around the collection shaft results.
