A description is given of a method for measuring spectacle lenses having at least one aspherical boundary surface. The method according to the invention is distinguished by the combination of the following features: - the spectacle lens to be measured is inserted into one component beam path of a double-beam interferometer, - a reference element whose boundary surfaces are measured using a measuring method which measures in an independently absolute fashion is inserted into the other beam path, - the interferograms produced are picked up by a sensor and stored in a computing and control unit, - the phase angle of the interferogram is displaced in at least three steps, - the computing and control unit calculates from the output signal of the sensor the local difference in glass thickness between the reference element and the spectacle lens to be tested, and also calculates the sign of the difference.
