PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of hitting sound of a one way clutch at the time of speed change by connecting a clutch arranged in parallel with the one-way clutch until the rotational ratio reaches that directly before a high-speed stage, when a throttle is fully opened. CONSTITUTION:A control unit 38 calculates the rotational ratio of an input rotating speed 39 and an output rotating speed 40. Then, it reads a throttle opening signal 42, and determines the speed change stage position appropriate to the present operating condition. The speed change is carried out by this control, and when the throttle is fully opened and the rotational ratio is less than a prescribed value, a solenoid 32 is turned ON, so that an overrunning clutch 24 is connected to cause the same condition as an one-way clutch is connected. Thus, even if the transmission direction of torque is changed during the speed change, since the torque is transmitted through the clutch 24, the one-way clutch is not changed from its free condition to the connected condition.
