PURPOSE:To always fix the direction of coating of a transfer roll by controlling the position of a photographic sensitive material to make it parallel with the coating direction and supplying it so that the photosensitive surface is directed to the transfer roll and controlling the position of the photographic sensitive material between the transfer roll and a back roll to make it parallel with the axial direction of the transfer roll. CONSTITUTION:The position of a supplied card-shaped photographic sensitive material 2 is so controlled that it is parallel with the coating direction, and its photosensitive surface is directed to a transfer roll 402 and the material 2 is supplied between the transfer roll 402 and a back roll 403. Since the coating speed based on rotation of the transfer roll 402 is lower than the supply speed of the photographic sensitive material 2, the position of the photographic sensitive material 2 is accurately controlled again to make it parallel with the axial direction of the transfer roll 402 when the photographic sensitive material 2 is brought into contact with the transfer roll 402. Since two stages of position control are performed in this manner, the direction of coating of the transfer roll 402 is always fixed.
