1,114,976. Sterile packaging. TEPAR A.G. 17 Jan., 1966 [19 Feb., 1965], No. 2138/66. Heading B8C. Disinfectant is coated on the edges of a slit cut in a packaging tube 29 to permit the entry of a filling pipe 36. The slit is subsequently closed and re-sealed, and the tube sealed transversely to form either cushion packs or, as shown, linings for cartons. In the preferred embodiment the disinfectant is fed to the inside of a porous body 64, preferably of spoolshape, situated immediately below the slitting knife 63, and the filling pipe also carries a shoe 34 engaging the unslit fold. Air or gas fed in with the filling material establishes a flow outwardly through the slit. The tube may be fed continuously, or, as shown, by vertically reciprocating clamps 48 ... 51, and the slit may be re-sealed by an intermittently operating device 37, 38, or by continuously operating sealing rollers. The cartons 58 shown receiving the filling lining are carried to an elevating table 61 by a conveyer 57. The cartons may be disposed with either a vertical median plane, or a diagonal plane, coinciding with the plane of the unfilled tubing. |
