<p>The emulsions contain 10 pts. vinyl chloride-vinyl isobutyl ether co-polymer, 28-31 pts. xylene, 3.5-4.3 pts. butyl acetate, 5-6.5 pts. acetone, 29.5-31.5 pts. deionised or dist. water and 0.96-1.12 pts. cationic or nonionic emulsifier, and they are produced by preparing a soln. of the co-polymer in the org. solvents at 15 degrees-25 degrees C, and a soln. of emulsifier in water at 55 degrees-65 degrees C and mixing these with a stirrer speed of >650 rpm. The emulsions form suitable binders for aq. paints e.g., for external protective coatings on concrete, with improved resistance to weathering, rain and frost, and better adhesion props. as well as satisfactory water vapour permeability.</p> |
