The invention provides a decorative architectural component 10 which consists of a strip 12 of sheet material which is installed parallel to the wall 14, overlying an existing component 16, such as skirting. A rail 18 is installed to cover the gap between the sheet 12 and the wall 14. The rail 18 preferably has a flat face 22 for abutment against the wall 14, and a profiled face 24, giving an attractive appearance. The invention also provides a kit comprising lengths of material for attachment to a wall to form a decorative component, some of the lengths being mitred for use at corners of the wall. Other corners may be formed using blocks which abut square ended lengths of material. <IMAGE> |
