摘要 <p>Substances contg. OH Gps. are rendered hydrophobic by etherification with tert. amines having the formula R3R2N-C(R1)=CH2 (in which R1 is H or CH3; R2 and R3 are the same or different and denote aromatic gps. or form together a heterocyclic ring comprising >=1 CO gp. next to N, or an aromatic ring(s) fused at alpha-beta posn. with respect to N) under energy rich irradiation in the presence of an org. halogen cpd. and opt. an inert liquid; at 25-180 degrees C. The method is esp. suitable for OH-contg. polymeric materials, such as cellulose polyvinyl alcohol, polyesters or OH-contg. proteinaceous substances; in particular textiles, paper, leather, wood, etc. Simple 1-8 C alcohols can also be etherified by this method. A special application is photocopying in the presence of known photosensitisers.</p>
